Golden Union No.1, subtitled A Field in England, is an English blended malt from the London Distillery Company, made by whiskymaker Matt McKay. It is a marriage of malts matured in hogsheads and barrels, bottled at 50% in a 70cl bottle, with natural colour and no chill filtration.
The nose is creamy toffee and buttery corn with breakfast cereals and meringue, and an earthiness alongside waxed lemons. The palate is mouthcoating, with vibrant citrus, preserved lemons and ripening mango, then white pepper spice giving way to milk chocolate, oats and buttered toast. The finish is long, with zesty lemon and tingling cask char.
