Longrow – 18 Years 2016 (70cl, 46%)

This is an 18 year old peated single malt from Longrow, the Campbeltown label made at the Springbank distillery. It is bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle. The long maturation took place in traditional dunnage warehouses, which the notes credit for its balanced, many-sided character. The malt for Longrow is dried over Islay peat fires for 48 hours. On the nose it is sweet, with vanilla, marshmallow, rock sugar and ripe fruit, plus blackberries, mandarins and damsons, and a complex smoke. The palate is sweet and oily, with peat smoke and fruit. The finish is medium in length, creamy and warming.
