Mac-Talla Islay Single Malt Festival 2026 (70cl, 52.4%)

This is Mac-Talla Cognac, a mystery Islay single malt bottled at 52.4% in a 70cl bottle by Morrison Scotch Whisky Distillers as a Friends of Feis release for Feis Ile 2026. The spirit began as delicately peated new make matured in first-fill bourbon casks. It then spent two years finishing in six 225-litre Cognac casks and was married for a further month before bottling. New make selection, cask filling, maturation, vatting and bottling were all supervised at Aberargie Distillery. The Cognac casks are described as adding ripe apricot, honeyed grape and subtle oak spice to the smoky Islay character.
