Mac-Talla Red Wine Barriques Islay Single Malt Limited Edition (53.8%)

Mac-Talla Red Wine Barriques is a limited edition Islay single malt bottled at cask strength, 53.8% ABV. Morrison Scotch Whisky Distillers, run by Jamie and Brian Morrison, selected the whisky from an undisclosed distillery on the island. It matured entirely in 24 ex-red wine barriques of French oak from Bordeaux, which add a fruity layer to the smoky Islay character. Only 7200 bottles were filled. The nose combines bright summer berries, green herbs and a touch of dry smoke. On the palate it is rich and smooth, with juicy red fruit, dark cocoa and warming smoke. The finish is long, with a sweet, fruity smokiness.
