Macallan 12 Year Old Sherry Oak is a Speyside single malt from Craigellachie, bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle. This is the older version of the bottling.
It is matured for a minimum of 12 years in oak casks seasoned with Oloroso sherry from Jerez. The distillery seasons the casks with sherry for 18 months before filling them with whisky.
The nose is vanilla, dried fruits and ginger with sweet toffee, fresh wood and delicate florals. The palate is medium-bodied, with dried fruit, sherry sweetness, wood smoke, spice and chocolate orange. The finish is warm and lingering, with dried fruit, wood spice and ginger.
