This is Macallan 12 Years Old Sherry Oak, a single malt matured entirely in European oak sherry casks from Jerez in Spain. The oak is seasoned with Oloroso sherry. The colour is a natural mahogany, with no colouring added.
The nose brings dried fruit, raisins and figs with vanilla, orange peel, cinnamon and a touch of oak, plus a hint of nutmeg and clove. On the palate there is sherry-soaked fruit, dark chocolate and caramel, with cinnamon, ginger, toasted nuts and orange. The finish is long, with sweet sherry, warm spice and light oak.
