Macallan 18 Year Old Double Cask is a Speyside single malt, here in its 2020 edition, bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle.
It was matured for 18 years in European and American oak casks, all seasoned with sherry in Jerez, Spain. Whiskies from the different casks rest together in a marrying period before bottling. Macallan brought the double cask approach into its permanent range in 2016.
The nose has rich dried fruits, ginger, toffee and vanilla, with orange citrus and clove. The palate brings warm oak spices, sweet raisins, caramelised ginger, citrus, sultana and honey. The finish is long, with rich oak, sweet dried fruit and gentle warming spice.
