Macallan Aera is an exclusive release made for Taiwan, bottled at 40% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It is also known as Aera Royal Black.
The whisky matured in a combination of European and American oak casks, which follows the Macallan's move away from maturation in sherry casks alone. The sherry style still comes through fully. The sherry oak was grown in Jerez in southern Spain and in northern forests, then dried for four years, made into casks and rested for two years before being filled with sherry.
