The Macallan Rare Cask 2020 Release is a Speyside single malt at 43%, in a 70cl bottle. No colour is added; its mahogany shade comes from the sherry casks.
It was matured entirely in first-fill sherry-seasoned oak, each cask picked by Macallan's Master Whisky Maker, with fewer than 1% of the casks maturing at the distillery chosen for it.
On the nose, vanilla and raisin lead to apple, lemon and orange, with oak, nutmeg, ginger and a touch of dark chocolate. The palate has vanilla, raisin, sultana and fresh apple, with oak and spice. The finish is long and warming, with oak spice, dried fruit and chocolate.
