Macallan – Rare Cask 2022 (43%)

The 2022 release of Macallan Rare Cask, a Speyside single malt bottled at 43% ABV. It is made from a selection of sherry-seasoned oak casks, with an emphasis on first-fill casks of both European and American oak. The deep mahogany colour is natural, with no colouring added. The bottle comes in a deep red box finished in gold. The nose offers raisins, vanilla and dried fruit, with orange zest, apple, caramel, cinnamon and a little nutmeg. The palate is rich and velvety, with vanilla, dark chocolate and toasted oak, then citrus, candied ginger and soft spice. The finish is long, with lingering dried fruit, spice and gentle oak.
