Macbeth Act One Benriach 31 Year Old Menteith Thanes Series (70cl, 53.1%)

This is Benriach 31 Year Old, named Menteith, from The Thanes series inspired by The Tragedy of Macbeth. It is bottled at 53.1% in a 70cl bottle. Elixir Distillers head blender Oliver Chilton selected bourbon barrels from the Highland distillery for it. Menteith is one of 12 malts in the series, each based on a character sketch by Dave Broom and illustrated by Sir Quentin Blake. The nose carries plums, green apples, blackberry crumble and Bakewell tart, then elderflower and apple blossom. On the palate are brambles, gooseberries, almonds and pecans with a touch of caramel, then lemon barley water, oats, bracken and a prickle of barrel char. The finish is long and coating, with linseed, walnut and olive oils.
