Mackinlay Shackleton Nordic Edition (47.3%)

Mackinlay Shackleton Nordic Edition is a blended malt recreated from Mackinlay's Rare Old Highland Malt, which Sir Ernest Shackleton took to Antarctica for his British Antarctic Expedition of 1907. Three cases were left buried in the ice beneath the expedition hut when the party turned for home in March 1909. Two cases were uncovered in February 2007. One was flown to Canterbury Museum in Christchurch in 2010 and thawed, revealing 11 bottles, ten of them intact. In 2011 the whisky was recreated by blending malts from Dalmore and Glen Mhor with Speyside distillates, aged from 8 to 30 years. It is bottled at 47.3%.
