Makoto Single Grain 23 Year Old is a Japanese grain whisky from the Kumesen Distillery in Okinawa, bottled at 42% ABV in a 750ml bottle. It is the second expression in the Bushido series, in which each label stands for a samurai virtue; Makoto means honesty and sincerity.
The column-distilled spirit was distilled in 1995, matured for 23 years in ex-bourbon casks and bottled in 2019.
The palate brings ginger and spice over woody notes, with dark chocolate, cinnamon, hard lemon candy and melted caramel. The finish is sweet and lasting, with licorice echoing the dark chocolate.
