Mars IV is a 15-year-old single malt bottled by Scotch Universe at 55.3% ABV. It was distilled in 2006, matured in a first-fill Oloroso sherry butt and bottled in 2022, non-chill-filtered and of natural colour.
The nose has dark sweetness and fine heather, with a little smoke, light maritime, iodine and mineral hints, strawberries from a rum pot and nuts. On the palate it is creamy and soft with nuts and a trace of iodine, turns fruitier, then moves to heather and minerals before becoming maritime again, ending with a finer but stronger peat smoke than on the nose.
The finish is long, varied and almost delicate.
