Mars Komagatake 2016 Single Shinshu Aging 1st Fill Bourbon Cask #3705 (70cl, 61%)

This is a single cask Japanese single malt from Mars, named Komagatake after a peak near the distillery. It was distilled in 2016 at the Shinshu distillery in the Japanese Alps, at an altitude of 800 metres, and bottled at a cask strength of 61% ABV. The cask was a first-fill ex-bourbon one, and it yielded 193 bottles. The nose combines vanilla, exotic fruits and aromatic plants. On the palate, vanilla lingers alongside lemon, grapefruit and coconut pie. The long finish is honeyed, leaving yellow melon, banana and fresh walnuts.
