This is a Japanese single malt from Mars Shinshu in the Nagano Alps, bottled at 52% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It was matured in ex-bourbon barrels, then finished for 10 months in ex-IPA casks from the Minami Shinshu Brewery. It is the distillery's second craft-beer cask experiment, and the 2021 release is a limited edition.
The nose is full-bodied, with sweet fruit, marzipan, dark fruits, tangy orange, soft lime rind, barley sugar, almond and vanilla. The palate is sweet, smooth and fruity, with toasted cereal, baked soda bread, orange, lemon and golden honey. The finish is rich and smooth.
