Matsui Sakura Cask Single Malt (48%)

Matsui Sakura Cask is a Japanese single malt from the Kurayoshi Distillery in Tottori Prefecture, bottled at 48% without chill filtration or added colour. The whisky is aged in casks made from sakura, Japanese cherry wood. It belongs to the Matsui Single Malt collection, which looks at how different woods shape the spirit. Matsui Shuzo, the company behind it, was founded in 1910. The nose offers cherry blossom, vanilla and a hint of malted barley. The palate is crisp, with almond, orange peel, light honey and a little spice. The finish is clean and lingering, with a floral sweetness from the sakura wood.
