The Kurayoshi 8 Year is a Japanese pure malt made from 100% malted barley at the Kurayoshi Distillery in Tottori Prefecture, part of the Matsui Shuzo company. It is bottled at 46% in a 75cl-style 750ml bottle.
The whisky is matured for a minimum of eight years in ex-bourbon white oak barrels, with a high proportion of first-fill casks. It is reduced to strength with soft groundwater from the foothills of Mount Daisen.
The nose brings clove, honey, baked pear and vanilla cream. The palate is rich, with candied nuts, toffee, malt biscuit and white chocolate, followed by a medium-long, warm finish with vanilla and gentle spice.
