Meikle Toir The Chinquapin is a five-year-old peated Speyside single malt, bottled at 48% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
It is peated to 35 PPM, and the smoke is on the sweeter side because the barley was kilned with mainland peat from St. Fergus. A fermentation of 160 hours gives a complex character that stands up to ageing in virgin oak casks.
The nose brings smouldering oak embers, burnt liquorice and honey, with ginger, butterscotch and orange peel. On the palate there are cocoa, crème brûlée and toasted almonds, alongside cinnamon, aniseed and campfire smoke.
