Memories of Karuizawa 1996 is a 16 year old Japanese whisky, distilled in 1996 at the Karuizawa distillery, which has since closed. It was aged for at least 16 years. Karuizawa was established in 1955 in the foothills of Mount Asama, an active volcano, in an area known as a popular mountain resort. At 850 metres above sea level, it is the highest distillery in Japan.
