Michel Couvreur Alekse 2008 15 Year Old Oloroso Sherry Butt Single Cask (50cl, 53.8%)

Alekse 2008 is a single cask malt from Michel Couvreur, bottled at 15 years old and 53.8% in a 50cl bottle. The spirit is Scottish, and it spent all fifteen years maturing in France in one Oloroso sherry butt. Michel Couvreur was a Belgian who settled in Burgundy. He bought Scottish new make spirit and matured it in old rock cellars at Bouze-les-Beaune, believing that much of a whisky's character develops during maturation. The nose is floral and subtle, with dried fruit such as dates and figs, walnut and leather, held together by a fine sweetness.
