Michelangiolo Sangiovese Romagna Superiore Riserva

A Romagna Sangiovese DOC Superiore Riserva from Calonga, made from grapes grown in Castiglione, in the province of Forlì-Cesena, on west-facing vineyards at about 100 metres above sea level. The soil is sandy loam with permanent grass cover and the vines are trained Guyot, with a declared yield of 50 quintals of grapes per hectare. Vinification takes place in temperature-controlled steel tanks with a week of maceration. The wine ages for 12 months in 225-litre French oak barriques, then is bottled and aged for a further 12 months in bottle. It is a deep, structured Sangiovese Riserva intended to accompany red meats and game.
