Michter's – Shenk's Homestead Sour Mash Whiskey 2019 Release (70cl, 45.6%)

A sour mash whiskey from Michter's, the 2019 release of Shenk's Homestead, bottled at 45.6% in a 70cl bottle. It is named after John Shenk, who founded the distillery that later became Michter's in 1753. The whiskey was aged in a combination of new American oak and specially commissioned toasted French oak barrels. As a sour mash, each batch draws on a previous one. The nose offers honeyed grain, cinnamon, stone fruit, caramel and toasted oak. The palate brings apricot, vanilla, ginger, orange peel and sweet oak. The finish is long and gently spiced, with caramel, fruit sweetness and charred oak.
