Minden Mill – 5 Year Old American Single Malt Whiskey (75cl, 47%)

This is a five-year-old American single malt made entirely on the Minden Mill estate in Nevada. The barley is grown and malted on site to a Vienna-roast level, then distilled in hand-built Forsyth pot stills and aged in a climate-controlled rickhouse in the high desert. Maturation uses a mix of oloroso sherry, ex-bourbon and American oak casks. It is bottled at 47% ABV, non-chill filtered, in a 75cl bottle. The nose brings fig, caramel, golden raisin, candied plum, honeycomb, almond and a little tobacco leaf. On the palate there is rich caramel, dried cherry, fruit compote, honey and sweet malt, and the finish is long, with cherry tobacco and light allspice.
