Cody Road Rye is a 100% rye whiskey made grain-to-glass in LeClaire, Iowa, and bottled at 40% ABV in a 750ml bottle.
The rye is grown on a farm in Fulton, Illinois, within 25 miles of the distillery. It is distilled in a handmade 1,000-litre German copper pot still and aged for one year in 30-gallon American oak casks, roughly half the size of a standard bourbon barrel.
The nose brings apricot, wildflowers, Honeycrisp apple and pear, with black pepper underneath. The palate is fruit-forward, with ripe pear and apricot, then menthol, ginger, lemon cream and cinnamon. The finish is medium, turning drier with oak and cracked black pepper.
