Moletto Grappa di Barbera is a single-variety Italian grappa distilled in traditional copper stills from the pomace of Barbera grapes. It is bottled unaged and crystal clear at 43% ABV, in a 75cl bottle. The producer is Moletto Societa Agricola of Motta di Livenza in Veneto. Leaving the spirit unaged keeps the character of the grape in front. It is traditionally served at room temperature in a tulip glass after a meal, and suits cocktails that call for grappa. The nose offers dried pear, prune and pepper. The palate opens round and silky, with dried fruit, sweet cream and peppery spice, and the finish is crisp and warming with lingering pear.
