A 12 year old single malt from Mortlach, the Dufftown distillery founded in 1823 and long known as the Beast of Dufftown. This expression carries the subtitle The Wee Witchie, taken from the name of the small still that distils part of the whisky.
It is drawn from bourbon and sherry casks. The malt is meaty and robust at its core, supported by dried fruit and toffee. The nose is toasted almond, cinder toffee and heavy barley. On the palate come warming oak and soft raisins, a little olive oil salinity, and citrus oils that linger.
