Mortlach 16 Year Old is a single malt Scotch whisky from the Dufftown distillery, long nicknamed The Beast of Dufftown for its bold character. It takes its inspiration from the first 16 year old Mortlach, released in 1992.
The whisky was matured only in sherry casks. Mortlach was founded in 1823 by James Findlater and was the first legal distillery in Dufftown.
The nose is bold and complex, with stewed black orchard fruits, earthiness and spice. The palate is full and coating, with light leathery spice, apricot and honey, both sweet and savoury. The finish is long and complex, with hints of sweetness.
