Mortlach – 13 Year Old Special Release 2021 (55.9%)

This is Mortlach 13 Year Old from the Diageo Special Releases of 2021, a Speyside single malt bottled at a cask strength of 55.9%. It is non-chill-filtered and of natural colour. The whisky matured entirely in refill American oak casks. It follows Mortlach's 2.81 distillation process and has marked fullness and structure. The nose offers fresh oak, citrus, vanilla and a hint of meaty malt. On the palate it is intense and full, with dark fruit, spice, vanilla and toasted oak. The finish is long and warm, with dry tannin and lingering sweetness.
