A 16-year-old single malt from Mortlach distillery in Dufftown, Speyside, bottled at 43.4% in a 75cl bottle. Known as the Distiller's Dram, it is part of the trio Diageo launched in 2018.
The whisky was aged in a mixture of refill and first-fill American and European oak sherry casks. Mortlach uses its 2.81-times distillation, in which parts of the spirit are re-distilled in different combinations.
The nose has stewed black orchard fruits, singed raisins, dark sugars and oak cinnamon. The palate is rich and toffee-like, with brown sugar, raisins, dark chocolate and menthol-clove spice, and the finish is long and meaty, sweetening at the end.
