Mortlach 13 Year Old is a single malt from Diageo's 2021 Special Releases, bottled in a 70cl bottle. Mortlach is the distillery known as the Beast of Dufftown.
The whisky was matured in a combination of virgin and refill American oak casks, which gives it a powerful flavour profile. The theme of the 2021 Special Releases is Legends Untold, inspired by stories real and imagined around each distillery, and this bottle shows a howling wolf on its label.
The nose offers toffee, red berries and aromatic woody notes with a sweet barbecue edge. The palate is thick and chewy, with big, bold flavours, and the finish is aromatic and minty.
