Mortlach – 15 Year Old Gordon & MacPhail (70cl, 46%)

This is a 15 year old Mortlach single malt from Gordon & MacPhail's relaunched Distillery Labels range, a series bottled with the original distillery labels under licence. It is bottled at 46% ABV. The whisky was matured in first-fill and refill sherry casks. Mortlach was founded in 1823 in Dufftown, and it is one of the few distilleries that practise partial triple distillation, 2.81 times to be exact. It also uses old-fashioned worm tube condensers. The nose offers stewed fruit and sherried malt with a hint of clove. On the palate, barley sits at the core, joined by strawberry bonbons and cinnamon sticks. The finish brings new leather and orange peel.
