Mortlach – 16 Year Old Distillers Dram (70cl, 43.4%)

This is a 16 year old Speyside single malt from Mortlach, bottled as the Distillers Dram at 43.4% in a 70cl bottle. It nods to the Flora & Fauna release of the 1990s. It was matured entirely in sherry-seasoned oak casks and is unfiltered. Mortlach's 2.81 distillation, known as 'The Way', gives the spirit a rich, textured character. The nose offers blackberries, stewed plums and sherried raisins with tobacco leaf, old wood and earthy spice. On the palate come dark chocolate, clove, molasses, espresso, fig and sweet malt. The finish is long, dry and savoury, with oaky tannins and cracked pepper.
