This is a 25 year old Speyside single malt from Mortlach, bottled by Gordon & MacPhail in its Distillery Labels range at 46% in a 70cl bottle. It was matured in sherry casks for no less than 25 years.
Mortlach was founded in 1823 and distils its spirit two and a half times. It is known for its use of sherry casks and for a rich, robust spirit.
The nose has toasted barley and bold citrus leading to rich sherry and a fruity dumpling. The palate brings chocolate orange, summer pudding, toffee apple, Christmas cake spice and vanilla oak. The finish is long, with milk chocolate, espresso and toasted nuts.
