Mortlach – 25 Years Old (43.4%)

This is a 25-year-old single malt from Mortlach, the Speyside distillery in Dufftown known by the nickname The Beast of Dufftown. It is bottled at 43.4% without filtration. The whisky was matured in a mix of American and European oak casks, chosen to bring out the distillery's characteristic depth and its rich, meaty style. The nose is typically described as dried fruit, dark caramel, candied orange peel and old leather, with spicy oak and a touch of roasted coffee. On the palate it is full and silky, with prunes, dark chocolate, vanilla and tobacco. The finish is long and warm, with lingering sweetness and light smoke.
