Mortlach – Cowie's Blue Seal 2.81 Distilled (43.4%)

Mortlach Cowie's Blue Seal is a Speyside single malt bottled at 43.4% ABV. It is made using Mortlach's 2.81 distillation, the method behind the whisky's full body and 'meaty' character. The name honours Dr Alexander Cowie, the man behind the distillery's particular approach, and the bottle carries a blue seal. The whisky was matured in a selection of casks. The nose offers dried fruits, dark caramel, toasted oak and a hint of leather. On the palate it is full and silky, with spices, chocolate, vanilla and subtle smoke. The finish is long and balanced, with deep sweetness and a warm, spicy note.
