New Riff Barrel Proof Rye is a four-year-old Kentucky rye whiskey, bottled at barrel proof in a 75cl bottle. The strength is around 56% and varies from batch to batch. The mashbill is 95% rye and 5% malted rye.
It follows a full sour mash regimen and ages in 53-gallon new oak barrels that are both toasted and charred. Every batch is bottled without chill-filtration.
The nose is toasted brown sugar, warm oak and citrus peel, with cinnamon, clove, allspice and a streak of mint. The palate brings rye spice and scorched caramel, then peppermint, peach, apricot and cherry. The finish is long, with drying oak, ginger root, black pepper and lingering sweet mint.
