Nikka Taketsuru 21 Year Old Pure Malt

Nikka Taketsuru 21 Year Old is a blended malt named after Masataka Taketsuru, founder of Nikka and a father figure of Japanese whisky. It is a blend of malt whiskies aged for at least 21 years at Nikka's Yoichi and Miyagikyo distilleries. The casks used are American oak, sherry and Japanese Mizunara oak. Mizunara adds oriental spice and a touch of sandalwood, sherry casks bring dark fruit and subtle sweetness, and American oak contributes vanilla and caramel. The nose is deep, with dark fruit, cocoa and roasted nuts. The palate is silky, with raisins, toffee, black cherries, cinnamon and clove, and the finish carries dark chocolate, oak and a little smoke.
