North British – 17 Year Old Sherry Casks Thompson Bros. (70cl, 48%)

This is a 17-year-old single grain whisky from North British in the Lowlands, bottled by Thompson Bros. at 48% in a 70cl bottle. It matured in sherry casks, and it is non-chill-filtered with no added colouring. The sherry casks bring dark fruit, caramel and cask spice to a soft grain style, with chocolate and molasses sitting alongside vanilla and gentle oak. The nose offers raisins, toffee, vanilla and sherry with oak. On the palate come dried fruit, honey, dark caramel, chocolate and cask spice, with stewed plums, molasses and orange in the background.
