North British – 30 Year Old Refill Hogshead Single Grain (Fragrant Drops) (70cl, 53.6%)

A 30 year old single grain whisky from North British, matured fully in a refill bourbon hogshead and bottled at cask strength, 53.6%, in a 70cl bottle. It is a Fragrant Drops bottling. The label carries an illustration of Wojtek the Bear, the Syrian brown bear who served alongside Polish troops in the Second World War and later retired to Edinburgh Zoo. The nose brings toffee mints, marzipan, milky coffee, vanilla, amaretto, clove and juniper. On the palate come rum and raisin ice cream, dark chocolate, cornflakes, liquorice, cherry, plum and molasses. The finish has wood spice, cinnamon, nutmeg, orange peel and peanut brittle.
