This is a 42 year old North Port, a Highland single malt distilled in 1981 and bottled in 2024 for Gordon & MacPhail's Private Collection, Recollection Series 3. It was matured in a single refill American oak hogshead, which yielded 132 bottles. North Port, also known as Brechin, was a family-owned distillery that was bought and closed by DCL.
The nose offers rich citrus with red apple and butterscotch, apricot jam, walnut and a little aged leather. On the palate come sweet tangerine zest, desiccated coconut, soft ginger spice and demerara sugar, leading to mature oak. The finish is dry and medium in body, with Brazil nut.
