North Star Spirits Vega 40 Year Old 1977 Blended Malt Scotch Whisky 2018 (70cl, 43.1%)

This is a 40 year old blended malt Scotch whisky from North Star Spirits, the second release in its Vega series. Vega takes its name from the star in the constellation Lyra. Only 400 bottles were produced, at 43.1% ABV in a 70cl size. The whisky matured in a combination of Spanish oak and American oak and has a strongly sherried character. The nose is freshly roasted coffee, sticky sherry and a hint of rancio. The palate has chocolate ganache, tobacco, sherried citrus peels and cinnamon spice. The finish is very long, with mocha and oily walnut.
