Oban 11 Years Old The Soul of Calypso is a 2023 Special Release in the Spirited Xchange series from Diageo. Matured conventionally at first, the single malt then received a finish in Caribbean pot still rum casks and was bottled at cask strength, 58%, in a 70cl bottle.
Oban was founded in 1794 by the brothers Hugh and John Stevenson and still works with two stills.
The nose combines sea air and seaweed with mango, sugar cane, fresh citrus and exotic spices. The palate is smooth and oily, sweet and fruity with salty minerality, and the medium finish is spicy and bittersweet.
