Oban 18 Year Limited Edition is a single malt Scotch whisky in a 750ml bottle, made for the US market. It comes from Oban Distillery in the West Highlands, established in 1794, and is bottled at 43% ABV (86 proof).
The whisky was matured for at least 18 years in American oak. Oban is one of the smallest distilleries in Scotland, with two lantern shaped copper pot stills, and its West Highland style sits between the smoky islands and the lighter, sweeter Highland malts.
The nose has citrus zest, orange marmalade, raw honey and a touch of sea spray. The palate is sweet and mouth filling, with smoked malt, spicy oak, ripe pear, dried fruit, salted caramel and gentle peat smoke. The finish is long and drying, with citrus, dark chocolate and a wisp of smoke.
