Octomore 14.1 is an Islay single malt from Bruichladdich, peated to 128.9 PPM and bottled at a cask strength of 59.6% in a 70cl bottle.
The barley is Scottish-grown Concerto, harvested in 2016. The spirit was distilled in tall, narrow-necked copper stills and matured for five years in first-fill American oak ex-bourbon casks. It is not chill filtered, and its colour comes from the cask alone.
The nose is medicinal smoke, sea spray and iodine with vanilla custard, citrus zest and honeycomb. Peat smoke and saltiness lead the palate, with caramel, toasted oak and baking spices, and the finish is long, with smoke, vanilla and coastal brine.
