Octomore 14.2 is a Bruichladdich Islay single malt made from barley with a phenol content of 128.9 PPM. It is bottled at cask strength, 57.7%, in a 70cl bottle, non-chill filtered and with no added colouring.
It matured first in Oloroso sherry casks and was then finished in Amarone wine casks from Italy.
The nose is maritime peat smoke with iodine and sea spray, then dark fruits, raisins and warm spices, with a vinous note from the Amarone. The palate has smoke and ash against dried fruit, dark chocolate, leather and Christmas cake, with cinnamon, nutmeg, black pepper and red berry sweetness. The finish is very long, with peat smoke, sea salt and dried fruit, and traces of cherry and almond.
