Octomore 16.1 is an Islay single malt from Bruichladdich, made with Concerto barley grown on the Scottish mainland and malted to 101.4 PPM. It is bottled at a cask strength of 59.3% in a 70cl bottle.
The whisky spent 5 years in first-fill bourbon casks.
The nose combines sea spray and orchard fruit with gentle peat smoke, heather, chamomile, vanilla pod, toasted almond, cedar, smoked paprika and iodine. On the palate the peat is immediate but soft, followed by salted caramel, melon, apricot, spice and chocolate. The finish is long, with peat smoke at its centre, black pepper, caramel and sea salt.
