Octomore 16.2 is a heavily peated single malt from the Bruichladdich distillery on Islay, bottled at cask strength as a limited edition. It is distilled from 100% Scottish Concerto barley, and the malt is peated to 101.4 PPM.
The whisky matured in Oloroso and Bordeaux casks, then spent a further year in Madeira and Moscatel casks.
The nose is fruity, with tropical fruit, blossom and honeycomb before peat smoke arrives. On the palate, sweet smoke sits alongside dried fruit, burnt sugar, nuts and a little spice. The finish is long, with sweet smoke, a maritime note and a touch of wood.
