Octomore 17.1 is a five year old Islay single malt made from 100% Scottish Mainland Concerto barley. The barley was peated to 81.0 PPM, the lowest level Octomore has used. It was matured only in first-fill bourbon barrels and bottled at 59.7% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
Despite the modest peating, it is chewy and intensely smoky, with pipe tobacco, treacle tart and cinnamon sweets alongside vanilla, malt syrup and a distinctive coastal salinity.
