This is Batch 1-GA from Old Carter Whiskey Co., a small batch Kentucky straight bourbon made for the Georgia market. The company was founded by Mark and Sherri Carter, co-creators of Kentucky Owl. It is bottled at barrel strength, 58.8% ABV (117.6 proof), in a 750ml bottle. It is a blend of sourced Kentucky bourbon barrels, bottled once the Carters judge the blend ready rather than on a fixed calendar. It is non-chill filtered, and Sherri labels every bottle by hand. The nose is dark caramel, toasted oak, vanilla, baking spice and dried fruit. The palate is rich and oily, with toffee, brown sugar, charred barrel and cinnamon. The finish is long and warming, with barrel spice fading to sweet oak.
